Finally! A flesh-eating fish franchise YOU can afford!
Salon owner John Ho of Alexandria, VA is franchising a novel concept, called Doctor Fish.
Customers dunk their feet in a warm water bath filled with tiny carp that nibble off the dead skin cells and, supposedly, leave the feet feeling rejuvenated and refreshed.
The fish are called garra rufa and are typically known as doctor fish. They were first used in Turkey and have become popular in several Asian countries.
Beware of imitators! While garra rufa are toothless, they’re also expensive. Some practitioners have substituted a cheaper variety of flesh eating fish that eventually grow teeth – and can put a real bite on the pedicure experience.
